Urban Demo Farm

The Urban Demo Farm waThe Urban Demonstration Farm was developed through the NACD Urban Agriculture Grant to expand urban agriculture education and hands-on learning opportunities for residents of Las Cruces and Doña Ana County. Through this project, Doña Ana Soil and Water Conservation District (DASWCD) partnered with Backyard Farms, La Semilla, and NMSU Extension to design and deliver a series of urban agriculture and gardening workshops.

The project advanced on an accelerated timeline by partnering with Backyard Farms and co-locating workshops at the existing community garden on El Paseo Road, allowing DASWCD to immediately leverage established infrastructure, community engagement, and local expertise. This collaborative approach enabled efficient program implementation and strong participant engagement.

DASWCD looks forward to continuing its cooperative relationship with Backyard Farms and community partners to provide ongoing Urban Agriculture educational workshops that support food production, soil health, and sustainable gardening practices for residents of Las Cruces and Doña Ana County.
